We are excited to welcome Katherine Mellis to the Sandwater investment team!
Katherine brings an international focus with a Bioengineering degree from the University of California, Berkeley and an MBA from London Business School. She will be responsible for deal sourcing, due diligence and management of active investments across Sandwater’s thematic verticals.
Most recently, Katherine worked as an Investment Professional with Hadean Ventures, focused on Seed & Series A investments in HealthTech and the Life Sciences. Prior to Hadean, Katherine worked in investment banking for Goldman Sachs' London Healthcare team as well as in strategy consulting for ZS Associates in San Francisco.

Sandwater Fund I will make sustainable, early-stage investments in resource efficiency, health and climate technology in the Nordic region. We have so far received NOK 650 million from investors such as Nysnø, Canica, Lærdal, LGT and the Høegh family.
Never before has more been invested in Norwegian early-stage companies. Nevertheless, several growth companies experience that it can be difficult to raise capital for commercialization. Sandwater will help close the capital gap in the Nordic region and secure new sources of capital that provide opportunities for sustainable innovation and technology development.
Sandwater consists of an experienced team with a background in company development and investments and the fund was formally established in 2021, but has invested in companies since 2016. The fund manager builds an interesting ecosystem around it consisting of investors, co-investors, incubators, accelerators and external experts, and will provide experience, networks and venture capital to stimulate a growing Norwegian venture environment.
The companies Sandwater plans to invest in will solve challenges related to resource scarcity, greenhouse gas emissions, health and welfare. ESG will be an integral part of their investment decisions, and the fund will set clear sustainability milestones for companies after investment. Six companies have already received the fund on the ownership side."

Whom recently announced clinical trial collaboration and supply agreement with Merck to evaluate the safety and efficacy of CyPep1 in combination with KEYTRUDA (pembrolizumab), Merck's anti-PD-1 therapy.
With phase 1 monotherapy data of CyPep-1 showing a strong safety profile and encouraging anti-tumour activity, Cytovation AS is on its way on developing treatment of multiple diseases, ranging from benign tumors to malignant cancers.
